Why?

The municipalities will play more and more important role for environmental protection in Bulgaria. This project will strengthen their capacity and enrich the municipal environmental experts with new approaches for the implementation of this mission.

Being an EU member Bulgaria will have access to the support of the Structural Funds and the Cohesion Fund in meeting the criteria for environmental protection. The role of the municipalities in this field will be of great importance. This is another reason for recognizing the strengthening of their administrative capacity as a priority.

We intend to assist the municipalities in improving their strategy and programming tools so as to be better prepared for handling environmental issues as well as develop Structural Funds and Cohesion Funds projects within the environmental sector.
